Types of clearance trials
Solo clearance trial
A Solo Clearance Trial is required for the below Racing Rule breaches/reasons.
- Cramping trial (R 130)
- Satisfactory weight trial (R102)
- Return to racing (R 135)
Requirements
- A Return to Racing Health Assessment (completed by a veterinarian) must be submitted when a greyhound is participating in a Return to Racing clearance trial.
- Greyhounds can run solo in these trials.
Competitive clearance trial
A Competitive Clearance Trial is required for the following Racing Rule breaches:
- Marring/Fail to Pursue (R 123/124)
- Failing to pursue due to injury (R 125)
- Unsatisfactory performance (R129)
- Turning in the boxes (R106(1))
- Blinkers Trials (R 91)
Requirements
- Trainers must source two other greyhounds to compete against their trialling greyhound.
- Incapacitation (stand-down) periods still apply.
- The greyhound must complete a competitive clearance trial of the same distance or greater at the track that the offence occurred in order to return to racing at that track and distance. A trial at a different track and/or lesser distance will clear the greyhound to race at all tracks except for the track that the offence occurred and only for races up to the distance of the trial. See LR132A for more information.
Return to race clearance trial
For a return to race trial, trainers will need to be on track 30 minutes before kenneling commences so a GWIC On Track Veterinarian can examine the greyhound.
How to request a clearance trial
Requests for clearance trials must be made via the eTrac Participant Portal. Requests can be made at any time and will be processed after fields are confirmed for the requested meeting. The outcome of any requests will be shared once processed.
All requests for clearance trials must be submitted no less than three days before the meeting.
